Description

Superar is a unique international initiative focused on music education for children (and adults). The aim of the project is to implement the principles of ensuring strict observance of children''s rights and their protection against violence in the organization Superar Slovakia and thus increase the standard of protection of children involved in the activities of the organization. During the project, a series of activities will take place to strengthen and develop the organization''s internal mechanisms and competencies in the area of sensitive approach to the needs and rights of children and prevention of their violation. Partial activities of the project include an internal survey of problematic and critical situations; a survey among other organizations working with children on their child protection guidelines; a survey of schools, in which Superar operates, on their guidelines or mechanisms for the protection of children; supervisory meetings of our teachers; training to sensitize and develop skills to protect children from violence and adapt international Superar standards to the conditions of local groups. The main result of the project will be a new internal guideline to ensure the protection of children and a trained team of teachers. The project is being implemented in the districts of Bratislava, Malacky and Detva.

Summary of project results

During the course of the project, various activities took place. Surveys were carried out at the schools where Superar operates, in which their formalized procedures aimed at protecting children from violence were evaluated. Project also mapped out the problem situations that could happen most often when teaching and working with children, and also mapped the forms of threats/disadvantages children face in the program. Project held two online supervision meetings with Superar teachers and implemented two two-day trainings - workshops focused on safeguarding. One training was conducted online, one was conducted physically. The workshops were attended by Superar teachers and representatives of helping professions from Superar partner schools. Three new partnerships with public institutions were formalized and 136 children from vulnerable group were impacted by the project, while 68 from them were actively and intensively involved.
