Description

The aim of the project is to strengthen the position of vulnerable groups, children and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds through the volunteer program "I am here for you" (individual tutoring of children, which takes place during the school year in the form of one on one). The project involves children and young people, who come from a family environment full of stressful situations and violence, and offers them a teacher, a friend and a mentor = a volunteer. A relationship is created between the child and the volunteer, which is very beneficial for the child - he or she experiences a sense of acceptance, acquires a positive role model through the volunteer, which helps the child''s social inclusion. The project also includes consultations for organizations, that want to create volunteer programs (also for vulnerable groups), and the creation of new volunteer programs. The project is being implemented in the Bratislava region and assumes an impact on 330 vulnerable people, who will benefit from the project. The project is inspiring for young people and helps bring vulnerable groups closer together with the majority.

Summary of project results

The project was really very necessary for the development of volunteering in the region, because thanks to it we were able to spread awareness about volunteering, involve a large number of people in volunteering and thus help the large number of disadvantaged people living in our region. We implemented the following activities in the project: a)volunteer program “I''m here for you” and  “DobroZUSka; b) 110 consultations for the organizations; c)23 trainings and supervisions for the organizations and volunteers; d) involvement of 483 volunteers in Volunteer Week, 92 volunteers in Volunteer Days and 202 volunteers in Green Days; e) nomination of 200 volunteers and coordinators for volunteering prize, f) realized 5 introductions to volunteering for 98 people interested in volunteering; g)creation of 7 podcasts about volunteering; h)creation of a manual of the volunteer program and accreditation of education in the topics of volunteer management at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in the Slovak Republic; i) lecturing the "Volunteering in public administration as a way of people''s interest in society" for 14 participants. The benefit of the project for our target groups was exceptional, because people from local communities had the opportunity to get to know volunteering and to get involved in it. Activating people through volunteering has helped their civic engagement, increased their value and interest in the environment and society where they live. Vulnerable groups, i.e. clients of organizations, received more quality help from the volunteers involved. For the children in the program, the volunteer was often the only contact with the external world they had during the pandemic and with whom they could communicate openly not only about school but also about their fears and anxieties and consult the lack / distortion of information. The benefit for the organization was that they work better with volunteers and they have improved their knowledge and skills in volunteer management. A total of 947 people participated in the project.
