Description
Babes-Bolyai University(BBU) is traditionally a multicultural university both ethnically and religiously, striving for the intercultural exchanges of knowledge and experiences. Nevertheless, the financial gaps between EEA countries and Romania make this project a necessity for maintaining and strengthening the cooperation between Romania and the donor countries. By covering the expenses specific to mobilities, the project will not only facilitate the institutional cooperation, but also enhance the quality of education by giving both students and academics the chance to exchanges ideas and experiences.
Furthermore, the facilitation of mobilities can also have a significant impact on reducing economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area (EEA) by expanding the students’ horizon on career options at a European level. Experiencing for themselves the life of a student from another country will make them perceive the possibility of working in institutions from different countries as more tangible. Thus, both the donor and beneficiary countries might benefit from enhanced human capital and knowledge base, strengthening the bilateral relations between the EEA states and Romania in tackling common challenges.
Another common goal that BBU has in common with the donor countries is social inclusion. In accordance with its values, BBU promotes inclusive education, addressing the difficulties of high school graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Developing joint activities with universities from Norway and Island is complicated considering the difference of the cost of living, but the extra financial support from EEA grants creates the possibility for the beneficiaries to manage better the living expenses in the partner country.
There are difficulties in attracting students from Norway and Iceland to Romania, however with this type of projects we can attract more incoming students, till now, they are more comfortable with short joint activities.
