Description
Babes-Bolyai University(BBU) is traditionally a multicultural university both ethnically and religiously, striving for the intercultural exchanges of knowledge and experiences. Nevertheless, the financial gaps between EEA countries and Romania make this project a necessity for maintaining and strengthening the cooperation between Romania and the donor countries. By covering the expenses specific to mobilities, the project will not only facilitate the institutional cooperation, but also enhance the quality of education by giving both students and academics the chance to exchanges ideas and experiences.
Furthermore, the facilitation of mobilities can also have a significant impact on reducing economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area (EEA) by expanding the students’ horizon on career options at a European level. Experiencing for themselves the life of a student from another country will make them perceive the possibility of working in institutions from different countries as more tangible. Thus, both the donor and beneficiary countries might benefit from enhanced human capital and knowledge base, strengthening the bilateral relations between the EEA states and Romania in tackling common challenges.
Another common goal that BBU has in common with the donor countries is social inclusion. In accordance with its values, BBU promotes inclusive education, addressing the difficulties of high school graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Developing joint activities with universities from Norway and Island is complicated considering the difference of the cost of living, but the extra financial support from EEA grants creates the possibility for the beneficiaries to manage better the living expenses in the partner country.
There are difficulties in attracting students from Norway and Iceland to Romania, however with this type of projects we can attract more incoming students, till now, they are more comfortable with short joint activities.
Summary of project results
The project had as main objective to organize several mobilities with universities from Norway. Being a mobility project, the activities were generated by the project financing rules and the bilateral agreement conditions.
In the frame of this project, we organized the following activities:
- Contracting activities
- Dissemination activities
- Selection activities
- Organization of the activities
- Major force situation activities because of the Covid
- Monitoring activities
- Reporting activities
We managed to organize more mobilities than in the previous year were the mobilities were affected by the pandemic. In this project we managed to organize 17 mobilities. The increase of mobilities was a direct result of the reducing of the pandemic restriction.
The project results bring an important value to the internationalization activity as it is important to develop mobilities with Norwegian universities. In this project we managed to organize a number of 17 mobilities to several partner universities
Summary of bilateral results
It is very difficult to discuss the impact of one project in society as the number of beneficiaries is quite low. At the same time the impact of several similar projects implemented has a great impact in generating better cooperation between Romanian universities and Norwegian universities. This project has an impact on the society by offering a better understanding between the Norwegian and Romanian cultures. However, the impact is low, because the number of mobilities are low compared with the Erasmus program.Any exchange mobility is bringing changes in behavior and a better understanding of the surrounding environment. An overall study should be carried on at national level, taking into consideration all the mobilities not just the ones from one coordinator university.Even though the impact was lower because of the pandemic, the situation changed for the next flow of mobility.
