Summary of project results
The main purpose of the project called Friends from the Web is to strengthen vulnerable groups, to provide micro-grants as a way to obtain resources for education and talent development of children from weaker groups and excluded communities (target group of the project). The project is divided into 2 parts. The first part is called The Big Friends – using the infrastructure of the portal
www.LudiaLudom.sk and enables “online adoption” – a special kind of a support request registered by the institution (school, non-government organization, secular or religious association) that works with the children and youth. The aim and target amount of every support request has to be defined. The entire amount obtained from the donors is forwarded to the institution which has to use it according to the aim of the request, for example for the tuition, purchasing of the school supplies, sports equipment and travel costs to school. Every recipient, donor and also public can check the overview of donations. Therein lies the transparency of this donation. The second part of the project Friends from the Web is called The Little Friends – the social network enables communication between the children, donors and other users, especially their age mates. The main purpose of this part is active participation of involved children. The intention is to increase their both general and digital literacy. Bringing together users of the project from different social classes we promote social inclusion. Since the launch of the project (21.08.2014) project has helped 31 children to the sum of 3.380 €. At the creation of the web portal
www.kamosizwebu.sk (Friends from the Web) we worked with teams of programmers and graphic designers, also with the Library for Youth of Kosice City as a expert guarantor of knowledge test created by its librarians. After starting of operation the partner organizations have become ETP Slovensko, eduRoma, romanokher, Divé maky and Detský fond SR. These organizations have registered requests for the help for children with whom they work and they have raised funds on travel expenses, textbooks, dormitory housing, tuition at art school, sports equipment for talented children, musical instruments or medical devices needed to raise the children. The project partners are also the donors themselves, thus anyone who support some of the requests for the help.
