Summary of project results

One of the themes of the organisation is to support public participation in planning and decision-making with an impact on the quality of the environment and to strengthen local campaigns of active people throughout the Czech Republic. We organise educational and motivational workshops for them and provide them with long-term consultancy support, together with them we work on selected cases (Brno city plan, Brno Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, felling of the pine grove in Líšno, illegal construction of the Bauhaus Hobby Market in Ivanovice, etc.). We were at the birth of the platform of Brno civic initiatives, which has been meeting since 2009 and offers a space for sharing experiences and planning strategies towards the Brno City Hall or district authorities. We teach a course on Public Participation in Sustainable City Planning at the FSS MU in Brno. Within this project we aim to bring about changes both at the level of Brno and at the national level. Our partners are in different parts of the country, so that the support for initiatives and active public is spread over multiple regions.

We provide experts in the organization with a perspective for only a few months. We are going through a staff turnover and thus losing a broader portfolio of knowledge and skills. Public interest in our know-how continues.

Currently we do not even have financially secured consultancy for the active public in Brno and other municipalities that turn to us. We advise in our spare time, on a voluntary basis, mostly only by phone or email, often not quickly enough.

N/A

We have succeeded in bringing the topic of urban planning as an effective tool in the fight against the climate crisis and for sustainable urban development to public

awareness. We have become a public representative to advocate for climate protection and the needs of the people in the new upcoming urban plan. We were

able to publicize through media and promote the issue through our own channels. We held several lobby meetings with representatives of the Brno municipality, to whom

we presented in detail our proposals for a sustainable Brno supported by public. We worked intensively with Brno civic initiatives, coordinating our approach and sharing our

know-how. We have thus established a better and closer cooperation. We raised awareness about the use of the urban plan for climate protection and about participation of

citizens in these and similar processes through educational workshops and seminars on these topics as well as through a course at Masaryk University, which took

place twice within the project. Thanks to the citizens'' advisory group, we have about 400 questions about environmental and climate protection or public participation were

answered during the consultation period. Last but not least, the capacity of the team was strengthened through strategic planning, supervision, a workshop on lobbying and

advocacy, or a course on rhetoric, which has had a long-lasting and positive effect on our future activities on this topic, which we want to continue to focus on.

Partner Děti Země: Thanks to this partner, we have created a network of citizens'' advisory group and have been able to respond flexibly and professionally to residents''

questions about environmental and climate protection in cities.

Partner Ústecké šrouby: we have created a network of citizens'' advisory group and have been able to respond flexibly and professionally to residents''

on the South Bohemia region.
