Summary of project results
Project was a response to the need to adapt educational requirements to the abilities of children with sensory integration and neuromotor development disorders, which cause problems in learning and behavior, difficulties in making decisions and accepting changes, and the consequence of these behaviors is misunderstanding and exclusion. Project enabled the development of a training program for non-therapist teachers to understand the underlying educational and behavioral difficulties of children. Program was prepared by therapists: for children with learning difficulties,( i.e. dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysorthography, ADHD, delayed speech development, Asperger''s syndrome) and a clinical psychologist and sensory integration therapist (disturbances in processing the senses of touch, balance, deep feeling). Due to low financial resources, access to specialist psychological diagnosis of children is difficult in educational institutions in small towns and in peripheral areas.
New competences for teachers are benefit. Programme will allow for a wide implementation of activities in the education system, thanks to which the school and home environment will be aware of the limitations resulting from sensory processing deficits and the lack of neuromotor maturity, and the benefit for children is to create conditions for their potential development, which will enable them to fully develop their potential in the future. inclusion in social and professional life.
Project was implemen in times of pandemic and distance learning. It was observed during that in connection with home schooling, isolation, and discontinuation of therapy, problem of the lack of therapeutic tools for working at home with children with school and behavioral difficulties for non-therapists was highlighted. Childern and their parents were left without professional support and simple and understandable therapeutic tools for everyday work with a child, situation was difficult both in cities and outside large urban centers.
The activities carried out in the project revealed the scale and complexity of student deficits, which the time of distance learning deepened. It was interesting to differentiate students'' problems depending on the region of the voivodeship (Słupsk, Chojnice). RPI provided a real tool to help students, and the Partners, through their cooperation and education networks, guarantee a long-term impact that the program will be popularized for other institutions of the education system.
