In Poland profession of a household appliances (HA) after sales repair technician is at risk due to for the lack of people to replace the aging staff. In order to encourage to this profession, a project has been prepared that contributes to changing the perception of the profession as modern and using innovative technol. 2rd goal is the direct support of future HA technicians by providing a comprehensive set of inform. from many fields knowledge of which is necess.in this profession. Together with the producers, a handbook with an online course will be prepared, developing additional skills necessary for the profession. A unique set of device descriptions, operating principles, maintenance, repairs and soft skills will be created. As part of the implement.course, it is expected to obtain add. competences for about 100 students of techn. schools and about 150 new employees. The long term result will be the cooperation with technical schools and building a new image for this profession.
Summary of project results
In Poland profession of a household appliances (HA) after sales repair technician is at risk due to for the lack of people to replace the aging staff. In order to encourage to this profession, a project has been prepared that contributes to changing the perception of the profession as modern and using innovative technol. The second goal was the direct support of future HA technicians by providing a comprehensive set of information from many fields knowledge of which is necessary in this profession. Together with the producers, a "Handbook of modern household appliances" with an online course has been prepared, developing additional skills necessary for the profession. A unique set of device descriptions, operating principles, maintenance, repairs and soft skills has been created. The results of the project were: a textbook (compendium of knowledge) for home appliance technicians; scripts (exercise scenarios) for teaching in technical schools; an e-learning platform on which an online household appliance technician course was created; pilot home appliances technician courses were implemented in 5 schools, evaluating the effectiveness of the pilot education; a number of presentations, films and other materials were created to disseminate knowledge about the project and promote the profession of a household appliance technician.
All project activities were fully implemented, a complete RPI was developed, all planned results and indicators were achieved.
Much attention was paid to promotional activities, both on the Internet and by organizing project events aimed at schools, websites and producers of household appliances, and promotional films were made. As a result of the project activities, the profession of a household appliance technician gained popularity among young people from secondary industry schools, who were very eager to participate in the courses organized in the project and declared their further involvement, e.g. by participating in summer apprenticeships in household appliances services. Also, numerous producers of household appliances in Poland (mostly associated with APPLiA Polska - the project partner) were encouraged to cooperate with vocational schools. In the long term, the project result will be the establishing cooperation between producers and technical schools and building a new image of this profession.
