Description

The project is focused on the implementation of knowledge about climate change into environmental education at school and the implementation of water detention measures in the school area. The objective of the project is adaption to climate change, specifically flood and drought prevention and increasing of public environmental awareness regarding rainwater harvesting, recycling and reuse. It is expected that the project implementation will create a system of environmental education at Special Elementary Boarding School Bytča focused on climate change and water detention measurements implemented to adapt to climate change. The project's goals will be reached through the newly created curricula and through the conducting of lesson as according to these curricula. Children, students and civil services are expected to benefit from the project implementation.

Summary of project results

Slovakia is no exception to the ongoing climate change. Adapting to the climate change affects all aspects of life in our region. Therefore, it is necessary to raise the awareness and expert capacities by the implementation of the project. We focus on the implementation of the knowledge about the climate change into the environmental education at school. To successfully achieve the project objective, the most important thing was to address young generation – pupils of our school, who can influence the environment in the future by their way of thinking and actions. Raise of awareness and education in the field of climate change adaptation at the elementary school in Bytča by the implementation of the environmental education and adaptive water detention measures. 1. Development of new curriculum and teaching materials for the environmental education focused on the field of climate change for each grade and class at the elementary school in Bytča. 2. Conducting lessons according to the newly prepared curriculum
