In September 2018, the Czech Republic held Roundtable meetings with Norwegian partners. The Ministry of Justice, as a PDP1 promoter discussed possibilities of bilateral cooperation with representatives of DPP – University College of the Norwegian Correctional service staff academy (KRUS). As an output of this roundtable meeting, 6 areas of possible bilateral cooperation were set up. Therefore the main goal of this initiative will be a discussion of content of possible ways of bilateral cooperation in more details within PDP1. Summary of the results
The main aim of this initiative were to (1) visit of the University College of the Norwegian Correctional Service Staff Academy and (2) discussion of content of selected bilateral activities within PDP1. The main aim was fulfilled.
On 15 November 2018, all participants met in Lillestrøm in the KRUS building, where a meeting and a tour of the building took place. In the afternoon, the Czech representatives, accompanied by two KRUS representatives, moved to the Buskerud probation center, where another meeting took place, followed by a tour of the halfway house in Drammen. On 16 November 2018 the morning program included the completion of a presentations by KRUS representatives on the training of prison guards, then the Czech participants briefly introduced the PDP 1 project - the system of joint education and the concept of bilateral cooperation within this project. Six possible areas (i.e. education, resocialisation, restorative justice) and possible activities (workshops, scharing of materials, experience, etc.) of bilateral cooperation were identified and discussed in more detail during the afternoon part of the program.
This study trip contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two partners and was positively evaluated by all of them. The acquired knowledge and materials were used in the preparation and implementation of a project “System of Joint Education”.
