Description

The project will focus on rainwater harvesting, recycling and reuse. It will involve children, parents, local communities and the general public. The objective of the project is to increas public environmental awareness in adaptation to climate change issues. Through the project implementation, the volume of rainwater that is reused will be achieved and the knowledge among children about climate change adaptation measures will be raised. The curricula focused on management of rainwater and climatic changes will be modified for the school education programme. Educational activities focused on environment will also be organised. Children, students and civil services are expected to benefit from the project implementation. The partner, Blue Alternative Foundation, will conduct technical assistance, biotech supervision, and technical assistance in the planning and implementation of measures.

Summary of project results

We wanted to bring students to the knowledge that everybody can use rainwater for their own benefit. The objective of the project was achieved at 100% and it is sustainable due to the fact that the built adaptation are permanently mounted or fitted. We have already defined adaptation measures in the grant application and during the implementation of the activities we have tried to provide cooperation and be helpful to the work conducted at the scheduled timeframe. Among the main activities financed by project were carried out: - Construction of rain reservoir with low fountain. - Replacing underground storage. - Replacing aboveground tanks for capturing rainwater. - Building a rain garden. - Creation of a landscaped wall of concrete surfaces. - Withdrawal of 16 pieces of maple trees around the school. - Installing a weather station. - We realized the conferences and seminars for students and the public. - Publicity activities and of the project. With this project we have achieved that a majority of students has a different perspective (specific) to changed climatic conditions and global warming of the Earth, not only with students, but also the public. Before implementing the project, the students acquainted only theoretically with this topic.With realized adaptation measures that has linked theory and practice, to the curriculum for pupils which became more concrete, more tangible. And the public who attend our school, sees how at the particular place, can be water captured and used rainwater.
