Description

The aim of this project is to increase awareness and education in the field of climate change adaptation. The objective of the project is the adaption to climate change, specifically flood and drought prevention. It is expected that the project will create a system of environmental education curricula focused on climate change and rainwater management. All the information will be published on the Internet as well. The key aims expected to be achieved are education and increased awareness, the implementation of adaptation measures, and the building of partnerships with the relevant organizations in the region. Children and students are the main groups that will benefit from the project's implementation.

Summary of project results

The project was essential for raising awareness and educating our pupils and the general public in the sphere of accommodating to the changes of climate due to the global warming. A Cognitive Garden would serve as a model of natural “eco - classroom“ and the area of the school would be functionally utilized. After school it can become a place where children, teachers and parents can spend their free time. The aim of the project was satisfied and the sustainability of the project outcomes will be provided by an application in an educational learning process. Major activities funded by the project; building of the cognitive garden; elaboration and edition of textbooks A Cognitive Garden – source of information and pieces of knowledge about climatic changes and their consequences; creation of worksheets and didactic tests on DVDs – opportunity to test the knowledge from individual topics; and elaboration of schemes of work related to the change of climate and their incorporating into the School Educational Program for each year group The outcomes of the project consist of -creation of five islets with dimensions 5 x 5 meters. -realization of the planting of our 15 traditional trees (oak, hornbeam, maple, linden etc.) together with labels for each tree with a description tag. -elaboration and edition of textbooks A Cognitive Garden -elaboration of schemes of work related to the change of climate and their incorporating into the School Educational Program for each year group within 3 lessons -creation of worksheets for first stage of Primary schools and didactic tests on DVDs for the second stage of the Primary schools -gaining skills when creating projects – art works and projects / models / electronic presentations of the work, acquiring abilities to present own opinion, discuss and succeed in a debate -incorporation of pupils into the maintenance of the cognitive garden with traditional trees (oak, hornbeam, maple, linden etc.). -everyday contact of pupils with “A Cognitive Garden“ will create a genuine relationship with the solutions that the project suggests.
