Description

The submitted initiative is focused on strengthening scientific cooperation between two research bodies. Specifically, it is aimed at knowledge exchange in carbon sequestration. This should be realized via two 4-day study trips (one in Norway, one in the Czech Republic).

A practical, interdisciplinary approach within this research will help bring new mutual understanding to both partners and is definitely in line with the bilateral fund focus. Joint activities (field experiments and evaluation) would lead to the article in the peer reviewed journal as well as further follow up bilateral

Summary of the results

Implementation of the initiative contributed to knowledge transfer in the areas of increasing soil productivity for forage production, improving drainage, using farm and organic fertilizers, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural land use, and adapting grasses and clovers to changing climates. We dealt with the issue of sampling (biomass and soil), their processing, testing and evaluation using modern analytical methods. Furthermore, we discussed the applications and results of experiments with different forms of organic fertilizers and their frequency during application. It was beneficial from the point of view of evaluating the nutritional value of feedstuffs and their prediction, determining the optimal harvest date of cultivated grass species and their mixtures from the point of view of changing climate and harvesting technology.

We had the opportunity to see and evaluate long-term experiments with different management of endowment and use of grasslands.
The possibilities of subsequent bilateral cooperation between Agrovyzkum and NIBIO were discussed. Further cooperation is expected after the end of the initiative, e.g. within the Horizon Europe calls and others.
