Description

The project will focus on rainwater harvesting, recycling and reuse. It will involve children, parents, local communities and general public. The objective of the project is increasing public environmental awareness about the issue of adaptation to climate change. Through the project's implementation, the volume of rainwater that is reused will be increased as will the knowledge of children about climate change adaptation measures. The curricula focused on management of rainwater and climatic changes will be modified for the school education programme. Educational activities focused on environment will also be organised. Children, students and civil services are expected to benefit from the project implementation.

Summary of project results

Extending retention of biotechnical measures and teaching of modern capturing rainwater utilization in primary schools Divin increased environmental awareness of local communities . The school wanted to actively respond to changing climatic conditions through the project , where the main part was rainwater harvesting and its subsequent use . The project implemented six kinds of measures to detain storm water and rainwater utilization . These are the following measures : - Water reservoir for the school with a capacity of 135 cubic meters to capture rainwater and gradual infiltration built - Installation of a certified underground storage volume of about 10 cubic meters , where water from the roofs of the school will be used for drip irrigation campus - Installation of above ground rainwater tanks that will collect water from individual troughs , thus trapped water will be used for watering plantings and climbing plants build a rain garden - Establishment of vegetation wall of climbing plants to increase evaporation - Planting 20 trees In addition to the mentioned adaptation measures in the project, curriculum are developed for students with focus on a storm water management and its link to climate change. The project involved 279 students through the teaching of the subject and in each class the number 3 lessons . In addition to theoretical training, the students acquaint themselves directly implemented adaptation measures on the use and importance of rainwater . The project involved the local citizens' associations and organizations and Parent Association for Elementary School Divin , company densiflora , Juniper Civic Association , CEEV resin , community Divin . The importance of the project will informed public via web site, meetings scheduled conferences as well as meetings with the general public .
