Children, students and civil services are expected to benefit from the project implementation.

Summary of project results

Implementation of this project the project, helpled us to address climate change issue in our region at a local level. During implementation of the project, we have ensured to capture and reuse rainwater into the designated containers so that we do not burden the drainage environment system and therefore we also managed to save drinking water. Another activity during the project was the preparation of curricula and education of pupils in the field of climate change and environmental protection, connected to the practical part where the activity of tree planting and revitalization of the school grounds took place with the help of pupils, pedagogical staff and parents. We taught children and students on the topic of flood prevention and drought during our lessons.83% of the campus is after installation of collection vessels disconnected from the rainwater sewerage system. In the vicinity of the school we planted 12 trees and revitalized the school grounds (planting of a living fence and flowers). The curriculum creates conditions for raising awareness and education on climate change, and the measures that have been implemented make long-term contributions as an example in the fight against floods and droughts. March 24, 2015, Gymnázium sv. Jána Zlatoústeho in Humenné remembered Water Day (opening event of the project). Primary and secondary school pupils met to learn about climate change and possible measures to address this issue. On 27.5. - May 30, 2015, two students of our school together with the Director took part in a study stay in Norway thanks to the Blue School project, which also involved our school. April 19, 2016 installation of collecting containers took place at the school. The GJZ students assisted in the installation, allowing them to see a practical demonstration of the installation and operation of rainwater collecting vessels. In total, five collection vessels with a total volume of 1400 liters per one vessel were installed. After installation, we met the criterion - 83% of the campus is disconnected from the rainwater sewer. Gymnázium sv. Jána Zlatousteho in Humenne on 29 April 2016 organized the Earth Day.
