Description

Members of ZGNL and DUGS are bout to the idea of creating Urban gardens in School for deaf and hard of hearing Ljubljana. For some years we have modestly tried to realize it through formal and informal activities, but for something concrete we obviously do not have enough knowledge, skills and support. The project is needed on one hand to gain the information, organisational skills and methodology how to fulfill these bigger plans of ours, on other other hand we have to go through SEEDS work camps to see on our hands the result of that kind of ideas. We would like to send 4 interested participants to SEEDS and their work camp title Growing Gardens in Reykjavik to gain some knowledge and skills. After that we expect from participants to share the results to other interested in our institutions. Participants, teachers, volunteers, children and youngsters in school for deaf they all will benefit from the knowledge and skills which the participants will bring back home. The SEEDS organized the work camp and for their work we will pay the concrete fee. The partnership will deeply connect three different institutions with similar goals and different ways of achieving it. They will have the opportunity to open themselves to otherness, to work on new options about vocational programs for youngsters as gardener and gaining new methods and shapes of informal ways of teaching.

Summary of project results

The project was carried out by Ljubljana School for the Deaf and was a part of our international strategy. It was connected with vocational education and our objective to offer new knowledge and programmes to our students with special needs: deaf, hard of hearing, autistic students and students with a speech and language delays. The objective was reached and we also gained much more as we thought, because we were able to find really good partner organizations connected with deaf education and society in Iceland. The outputs are: new partnerships, a draft of 2 new projects – we are sending 4 participants to Iceland next year within Erasmus plus, KA1: Special VET project. The project involved 2 partner organizations and we prepared 4 flows of mobilities for 6 participants. Deaf teacher was also involved and the accompanied participant took care of equal involvement of her into a programme. The main benefit of our project is new partnership in which we can exchange knowledge about deafness, deaf culture, deaf awareness. Participants disseminate project inside and outside our organization, also around Europe – with a help of our other European projects.

Summary of bilateral results

Partnership consisted of two organizations: Seeds, Iceland and Ljubljana school for the deaf. The programme for participants was agreed between the partners, we also find a way to include organizations connected with deafness. The programme of Seeds was connected with ecology, nature oriented, oriented to prevention of pollution, recycling programmes, protection of animals. One of our programme was also oriented in photography which is really important for our students of media technology. Also we were able to visit additional organizations connected with deafness. The partnership between organizations is strengthened – we made plans for a future cooperation together. Especially with deaf organization we are planning an Erasmus plus KA1 ACTION in the year 2017 within an approved project Special VET. Ljubljana school for the deaf runs 11 KA1 and KA2 projects within Erasmus+ and are disseminating the project within all of our partnerships.
