The aim of the visit is to identify possible common areas for international cooperation between the UKSW and the University of Iceland aimed at a joint application for funding of projects financed from external sources. (Norwegian / EU / Horizon 2020) in areas assessed during the study visit.The group of visit participants is composed of 4 full-time UKSW employees representing academic and administrative staff. The University of Iceland will present good practices in the areas of financing and international cooperation in projects, including ones with transnational component and infrastructure development; support in applying for grants. Participants will learn about the management and administration structure of the University of Iceland, including Science and Innovation Department.The study visit will also help to develop language skills and raise the competencies required for the workplace. Finally,the possibility to expand the image of UKSW internationally will be an added value.
Summary of project results
The aim of the project is to identify possible common areas of international cooperation between Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University and the University of Iceland aimed at applying for funding for joint projects from external sources in areas identified during the Study Visit. During the Visit to the University of Iceland, participants were presented with its structure, project activities (H2020,CIP) and types of grants. Then common areas of possible international cooperation were identified. The focus was on activities that could be undertaken in the near future (joint projects, events, student/employee exchanges, internships, placements). The participants visited the university''s central administrative body, the Science and Innovation Department, where they were introduced to the main tasks of the office: evaluation and funding of scientific research; support for the life cycle of projects, innovations and intellectual property; internal funding of scientific research; support for researchers in applying for grants; administrative, legal and financial advice. Experiences in areas related to the scope of activities of UKSW and the University of Iceland were exchanged, the work of the two Universities was compared, the main priorities of the University of Iceland were presented, the knowledge of project management was expanded, and the strategy of the University of Iceland for 2021-2026 was presented. The objectives of the study visit were fully realized. The level of skills and increased competence of employees in project management through the exchange of good practices and experiences were improved. Participants of the Study Visit were inspired by new ideas that can translate into joint projects in the future. The beneficiary reported that the mutual interest provides a solid foundation for scientific, research and project cooperation. Due to the pandemic situation, the situation in Iceland and the country has been monitored on an ongoing basis since March 2022, and Covid - 19 restrictions have been monitored. When buying air tickets and booking accommodation, insurance was purchased in case of flight cancellation and inability to carry out the Study Visit on a stationary basis, thus every effort was made to ensure that expenses would be considered eligible if the Study Visit was not carried out on the originally planned date.
Summary of bilateral results
The cooperation between the Beneficiary and the Host Institution was rated as high as possible. The Beneficiary reported that the mutual interest provides a solid foundation for scientific, research and project cooperation with the Host Institution.
