Description

With the project NORD – a mobility project that will connect the University of Maribor with universities and enterprises in Norway and Iceland (Molde University College, Nordtrondelag University College, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Telemark University College, UiT The Arctic university of Norway, Tromso University, University of Oslo, University of Akureyri, University of Iceland and University of Bergen) - the University of Maribor wishes to encourage the participation of students, researchers and academic staff in the interdisciplinary and multicultural research groups. This will contribute to research excellence, achieving top research results and increasing the recognition of the university in domestic and international arenas. In addition to this objective, the project will support the so-called "internalization at home", which will contribute to greater internationalization of research and study programs through the contents and especially in problem solving oriented ways of study. The project will also create a link between the University of Maribor and the partner institutions, which will stimulate inter-institutional cooperation, enable the transfer of knowledge, best practices in research and academic area and allow a more permanent inter-institutional cooperation.

Summary of project results

The main objective, set in this project, was in-depth scientific research cooperation. In this context, some faculties of UM have taken the opportunity of such cooperation, which is already reflected in the large number of partnerships or collaborations that have been developed in this project and whose purpose is to expand them in joint research projects and integration into other projects of UM. Another important objective of the project, which is no less important than the first, is the so-called "Internationalization at home." A number of 'incoming' mobility have helped to give students and employees at the University of Maribor (UM) the possibility of an international experience without their own mobility. UM strives for study programs that are more oriented to problem solving, joining knowledge and infrastructure, what is established practice at the higher education institutions of donor countries. With the "incoming mobility" the employed at UM gained new insights into the way of work with students, and in particular, in the design of study programs, focused on the development of problem-solving skills.

Summary of bilateral results

This project contributed to the formation of new partnerships in the field of scientific research between UM on the one hand and higher education institutions and firms from the donor countries on the other hand. Especially worth mentioning are the following: 1.Strengthen cooperation, execution of student and teacher mobilities, shared knowledge and experiences between the Faculty of Medicine UM with Norwegian institutions (companies) Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services and DNV GL, on the basis of which the Faculty of Medicine will open a new course, i.e. on evidence based medicine, in the academic year 2016/17; 2. Strengthen cooperation, execution of student and teacher mobilities, shared knowledge and experiences between the Faculty of Health Sciences UM and the Lovisenberg Diaconal University College in the academic field of medicine and nursing. 3. Strengthen cooperation, execution of student and teacher mobilities, shared knowledge and experiences between the Faculty of Education UM and the Nord-Trøndelag University College in the academic field of education. In the project, they put the emphasis on the themes of medicine and health care. On this subject the project coordinator hosted 4 lecturers, who gave lectures to students and staff at UM. These lectures were joined under a common title "Evidence based medicine”. These lectures were also attended by representatives of the University Clinical Centre and Health Care Centre Dr. Adolf Drolc Maribor and they had great importance for UM since it was a good example of cooperation between universities with the local economy, interdisciplinary solving of current problems and the transfer of knowledge from universities to the local environment.
