The aim of the project is to develop and efficient and influential civil society network on child’s rights that maintains and contributes public discussion on child’s rights. To achieve this, the Estonian Union for Child Welfare is working to further develop the nationwide network and collaboration, also to strengthen the communication capacities of its members to increase their ability to engage and participate effectively in improving the standard of children''s rights. Together with the partners, the principles of networking will be reviewed and agreed and also the work of the Youth Council will be expanded and empowered. With the help of youngsters, the Estonian Child Welfare Association’s web magazine, ‘Märka Last’ (‘Notice a Child’) is being developed into an information platform of the same name, which is both a real input, an output and an inclusion tool.
Summary of project results
One of the greatest challenges facing organizations working with children today is the fragmentation in child protection-related areas at a time when ch ild-related issues are time-sensitive and often require immediate intervention. Thus, the aim of the project was to develop an efficient and influential civil society network on child’s rights that maintains and contributes public discussion on child’s rights. First task was to strengthen the communication within the organization: establishing effective internal communication and collaboration practices, improve member relations and to empower member organizations. Together with the partners, the principles of networking were reviewed and agreed and also the work of the Youth Council was expanded. With the help of youngsters, the Estonian Child Welfare Association’s web magazine, ‘Märka Last’ (‘Notice a Child’) was developed into an information platform of the same name, which is both a real input, an output and an inclusion tool. As a result of the project, the Estonian Union for Child Welfare is better equipped not only to cope with change, but also to lead it. There is strengthened cooperation between the different parts and members of the organization; increased participation of youngsters and real inclusion through public speaking and discussion groups; general visibility of the organization both in mainstream and social media has increased. Better communication capacity has led to increased number of public speakers who have been on TV and radio, from a few to 10+ and communication in Russian language is now possible. All of those activities and results have built a strong foundation for more ambitious activities and for making it even stronger and more influential. The activities of Estonian Union for Child Welfare have becomemuch more visible for both, members, but also to the public.
