Description

Sailors need to power their equipment, such as GPS, radio etc. Currently they use noisy and unreliable diesel generators and heavy batteries to produce and store power on-board. And to start up the engine, they need a third solution. Not only is this inconvenient, but unreliability issues and vulnerability to corrosion can cause material damage or even injuries if power failures occur. Faced with the same problems are virtually every market sector, which needs back-up power – diesel generators are heavy, noisy, smelly, require maintenance and are overall inconvenient. Diesel generators and battery production contributes a lot to emissions.

PowerUp is developing novel fuel cell based smart generators (portable smart grid systems) and the objective of this project is to develop a fully functional IT system. The outcome is hardware, firmware, software and an app, which will monitor and manage the workflow of the smart grid system. This solution is silent, lightweight, maintenance-free and zero-emission, thus tackling all the above-mentioned challenges.

Beneficiaries: target markets (sailors, later also military, recreational vehicles, drones, electric vehicles etc.), R&D institutions and universities (PowerUp is continuously developing innovations in collaboration with different institutions), Estonian economy (our products are 100% export-oriented; creation of jobs).

We are looking for a partner with whom we could develop the IT solution for the smart grid system and B-testers.
