Description

The aim of the project is to increase the possibility of young NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and disadvantaged jobseekers to find employment. It responds to identified problems of long-term unemployment of Roma, high number of people with low education, low level of work habits of the younger and middle generation in the Roma population and low self-confidence of young unemployed people. Another problem is also mutual distrust of employers and young unemployed Roma and job offers that does not meet the needs and opportunities of young NEETs. The project will be implemented through innovative youth education and training programs, including personalized guidance activities. Wasco – cooperative, partner of the program ensures the education of the target group, based on the practical experience and it is going to present examples of good practice as well. 20 individuals of the vulnerable group will benefit from the project, 40 individuals will be trained to strengthen them economically.

Summary of project results

The project addresses the identified problems of high and long-term unemployment of the Roma and a large number of people with low education levels. The problems also include the poor working habits of the younger and middle generation of the Roma population and the mutual mistrust between employers and young unemployed Roma. The objective of the project "Stand up" was to increase the employability of young, disadvantaged, and vulnerable candidates on the labour market, with an emphasis on the marginalised Roma community. The main activities of the project consisted in the development and implementation of a training, education, and counselling program for young unemployed, mainly Roma women in the Brezno and Banská Bystrica districts. The project activities involved 40 vulnerable individuals who were also given training aimed at their economic development. This project improved access to work opportunities for job seekers with low educational level. In cooperation with the Wasco Cooperative Integration Enterprise, selected individuals who were involved in the Stand Up project were offered fixed-term employment contracts.
