Description

Our project is based on the need to change the mentality of the teaching and management staff, as well as the working techniques at the level of the schools in Calarasi County. Considering that the signal of change must be given by the institution that coordinates the educational activity at county level, the County School Inspectorate Calarasi. In this context, we have built a cascade action program that can make changes in 4 pilot schools over the course of a year. Schools have been selected from those with some disabilities that affect the quality of the education provided.

Project objectives:

1. Developing the skills of four experts in build change in school teams by participating in a 4-day course and a job shadowing day.

2. Improving the quality provided by creating a mechanism for producing changes in 4 pilot schools through action at the level of directors, department heads and teachers

3. Developing the interest for change in the schools in the county by disseminating examples of good practice through methodical circles with directors and circles on disciplines in all schools in the county.

At the course supported by Newschool AS, c / o Sentralen will participate 4 education experts from the Calarasi County School Inspectorate with attributions at the level of management, the coordination of the Curriculum Department, as well as responsibilities in the way of implementing the curriculum in schools.

The activities will take place during a school year and it is desired to obtain as a result a modern curricular design and a new approach to education by the teams in the schools. The action of the project aims to create at least one core of 6 teachers - agents of change in each pilot school in the first year. In the long run, a change in the teachers ''attitudes toward the education process is needed to allow better integration of graduates in society and economy, by capitalizing on students'' abilities and uncovering their qualities.

Summary of project results

The inspections carried out in the last years have found a series of dysfunctions in some schools in the county which are the cause of a poor quality of education. In a deeper analysis, the following conclusions were reached: 1. the inability of school leaders to build teams motivated by high-performance goals, 2. further focusing on content education and reduced concern for focusing on student education. . Thus, it was found necessary to train experts within the Calarasi School Inspectorate for the development of new competences in our county. As a result, we chose 4 experts from our institution to participate in a structured course + 1 day job shadowing offered by Newschool Oslo, Norway, from December 3 to 7, 2018, which corresponded to our needs for developing skills in the area. techniques for building change teams. Following the course there were two categories of activities: 1. Conducting workshops for debate, creation and innovation by mobility participants with inspectors, as well as with directors, department heads and teachers from 4 pilot schools, and 2. Activities dissemination of mobility and of the whole project having as target groups all county directors, teachers, students and parents. A summary of the most important results can be described by the following: -4 education experts (school inspectors) trained at the course in Norway; - 1 debate workshop with 22 inspectors; - 1 debate workshop with 6 directors and deputy directors from the pilot schools; 1 workshop realized with 24 heads of methodical commissions from the 4 pilot schools; - 4 workshops with 107 teachers from pilot schools; - 1 booklet with examples of good practices entitled " The Teacher as a Change Agent ".

We believe that the project has achieved its objectives and opened doors to expanding activities and multiplying the beneficial effects in other schools in the county.
