Summary of project results

The unemployment of youth in rural areas of Slovenia remains a major problem and the existing system is not expected to offer adequate solutions. The proposed project developed an alternative platform for youth employment and the creation of sustainable jobs in rural areas through local networking. The main objectives of the project were to establish cross-sector partnerships and empowerment of vulnerable groups, which would result in empowerment of young unemployed people of Upper Savinja Valley and strengthened development of the communities and a network of NGOs. The project faced serious difficulties, mostly connected to reaching out to youth. They didn't reach the students of 8-9 grade so they worked with only high school pupils and students. They also had difficulty in maintaining the same group of young people for all workshops. Several modification of the project was needed and some funds were taken away. They still managed to provide support to a group of young people - some of them actually did get an employment - mostly by opening their own business.
