Description

The initiative envisages expansion of interactive resources and mentoring modules aimed at fostering resilience of independent media in Latvia and the Baltic states and improving coordination between like-minded  governments from Europe and beyond that support media development in the region (further – donor governments). The initiative will enable Baltic Centre for Media Excellence (BCME) to develop, in close collaboration with the Norwegian partners, a set of needs-based data services and a repository of resources for media professionals, and to supply the donor governments with intelligence

Summary of the results

Activities contributed to enhancing media professionalism, knowledge, and resilience in the Baltic region, fostering discussions on issues in the media landscape, providing valuable resources and support to media professionals and organizations. Wide scope of events organized, including media trainings, donor networking, conferences (one of them “Changes in media consumption. Russian-speaking audiences in Estonia and Latvia” in June 2023: https://bcme.eu/en/our-work/research/changes-in-media-consumption-russian-speaking-audiences-in-estonia-and-latvia)  and workshops, conducting research and preparing 47 newsletters with useful information about grants and internships, seminars and workshops for wider communities across Baltics (https://www.bcme.eu/en/newsletters/funds4media-baltic-ed) . 6 educational materials for journalists are available in YouTube (one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA4W1FCr6zo).

In several areas of activity, the cooperation is expected to continue beyond the bilateral initiative, serving as valuable resources for media professionals and organizations in the Baltic region. These ongoing efforts aim to foster a resilient and knowledgeable media landscape in the region.
