Description
Green roof systems: the optimal solutions for roofs – environment friendly and efficient. WHY? The project was made in order to solve the following problems: high material and transport costs (currently the green roof systems are not developed for the local climate conditions); the plants used are not specific for local climate conditions, and do not grow properly. OBJECTIVE: The main objective of the project is to develop a new green product: green roofs designed & personalized and tested especially for the Romanian market ‐ developed on the basis of know-how and experience gathered by private companies in Norway. The result of the project will be new, significantly improved products ‐ green roofs, which include Norwegian experience and know‐how, and are tested for Romanian climatic conditions. HOW? R&D activities to develop climate specific, and local resource based green roof systems - drain, soil, sedum (plants). Validation of R&D results. Information and dissemination. BILATERAL RELATIONS: the outcome of the project will be realized through research and development activities made in partnership with two `donor companies` from Norway - ISOLA AS and NIBIO (former Bioforsk AS).
Summary of project results
The project aimed to provide the Romanian customers with a green roof product that is especially researched, designed and developed for local climate conditions and oriented to the purchasing possibilities of Romanian customers. Moreover, the project focuses on exploiting local raw materials and human resources. The project developed a new green product: green roofs designed & personalized and tested especially for the Romanian market - developed on the basis of know-how and experience gathered by private companies in Norway. The outcome of the project was realized through research and development activities made in partnership with two project partners from Norway. All results obtained were shared between SIMACEK Gardening and the Norwegian project partners involved in project - NIBIO and ISOLA AS.
Summary of bilateral results
Main achievements on a bilateral level: - know-how exchange; - new direction for research on green roofs; - new business partnership; - developing of a consultancy relationship. The Programme’s bilateral funds strengthened the bilateral relations between the Project Promoter and its Norwegian partners through mutual visits and meetings, and through jointly establishing new directions for the research and implementation of green roof components. The partnership developed within the project has significantly contributed to the finalizing of the project through validation by the NO partner (NIBIO) of the collected data from the research activities. The Project Promoter believes that in a partnership there must be only win-win situations. In this project the Promoter benefited of Norwegian know-how and exchanged their expertise with the Norwegian experts.
