Description

Bucovina was also named "Europe in miniature", name reinforced by the great collaboration between the majority population and the inhabitant minorities, by mutual respect and tolerance which generated an equilibrium between the two parties. According to the census from 20t1, the population of the city of Suceava was formed by 94,8% Romanians, 1,9% Roma people, 0,9 Ukrainians, 0,3% Polish, 0,3% Russian- Lippovan, 0,16 % Germans, 0,1% Armenians and 1,54% other ethnicities. The purpose of this project is to contribute to the creation and maintenance of the conditions for the development and affirmation of minorities identities in Bucovina region. Project activities: artistic exhibitions, promotion of traditional dances, cultural evenings and a gastronomic workshop. The specific objectives are the promotion of four artists from each of the following ethnicities: Ukrainian, Armenian, Roma, Russian Lippovan , German, Polish and four Romanian artists in the visual arts and music during the five days of festival. In order to reach the general objective, as well as the specific objectives within the project will be organized artistic exhibitions, cultural evenings with movies sessions, promotion of traditional dances, music and instruments of each ethnicity. Also, will be organized a gastronomic workshop where the accent will be placed on the family traditions. The direct beneficiary of this project is the large audience of the city of Suceava and neighboring localities. By participating to the event, the audience will be in contact this way will better acknowledge the Romanian culture, as well as the culture of different minorities living in Bucovina. These cultural evenings organized in the par will contribute to the development of cultural knowledge, will improve intercultural dialog and will reinforce the idea of cultural diversity and tolerance.

Summary of project results

The project was implemented to support young people to rediscover and become familiar with local cultural customs and values, trough the facilitation of direct contact with local people, crafts and culture. Results' sustainability will be assured trough the information circulated during the activities and assumed by participants. Also, the sustainability is assured by the promotional materials realised during the project. The main objective of the project was to create and maintain the condition for preservation, development and recognise the minorities' identity, especial that of Roma, the enforcement of intercultural dialogue and promotion of young artists at regional level. The project impact was the knowing of cultural values of cultural minorities in Bucovina by the large public. The planned results of the project were totally achieved: presentation and promotion of cultural heritage values of minorities: dances, songs and gastronomy. Within the project, the following outputs have been delivered:50 DVDs, 2 press conferences, 1 photo exhibition, 1 traditional dance evening, 1 traditional music evening, 1 traditional gastronomy evening, 90 promoted artists, 23 traditional food products, 8 presentations of musical instruments, 7 traditional dances. The general public was involved as spectators to performances and other events.
