Strengthening Czech civil society

In the period 2004-2009, the €10 million Czech NGO Fund provides financial support to NGOs running projects focusing on human rights and multiculturalism, support to disadvantaged children and young people, and environmental protection.

Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway finance the €10 million Czech NGO fund. The overall objective of the fund is to provide support to non-governmental, non-profit organisations in the Czech Republic.
Following 3 open calls grants were awarded to projects by NGO's that may strengthen human rights and multicultural environment, support children and young people with specific problems and protect the environment.

Since the fund's start in 2006, 181 projects have been awarded altogether €9.3 million in support:

  • 61 projects are within the focus area of democracy, human rights and discrimination;
  • 66 are within the focus area of environment; and
  • 54 are focused on social/family issues.

 

The NGO fund is the largest fund under the EEA and Norway Grants in the Czech Republic, and one of the largest funds supported by the EEA and Norway Grants.
