Description

The general objective of the project is to safeguard and promote traditional Roma arts and crafts and to transmit the specific knowledge people have gained during a lifetime of working with their crafts to the younger generation.The project is based on a multilevel action plan which takes account of a of elements safeguarding cultural values from the region and marketing these. The project is a long held wish the Harghita region has to assist the Roma population to safeguard their crafts and at the same time to find recognition for their crafts through certificates in the area of education/work which can help increase their job potential. In addition, the project safeguards and protects the rich Roma culture in this area and people's access to it. It increases public awareness about Roma cultural values and their arts and crafts. This contributes to greater mutual understanding and increased social inclusion, reducing hate speech, racism and ethnic discrimination.
