Description

Built in the 18th century, Brukenthal’s Summer Residence in Avrig is a unique Assembly, a monument of national and international importance. The project proposes a sustainable solution for the restoration and revitalization of the Orangery as a multifunctional cultural centre with accommodation facilities and organic restaurant based on bio products cultivated in the Dutch garden in front of the Orangery. The project aims to completely restore the Orangery, to re-plant the Dutch garden in front of the Orangery and to restore the green spaces surrounding the Orangery. The results of the project will contribute to the regeneration of the community by stimulating new industries complementary to the restored monument (accommodation, food services, etc.) and indirectly by creating minimum 20 work places needed for administration of the restaurant, guest rooms, event planning and gardening. The project impacts the community as well through an information and awareness campaign in school units in order to educate students behave responsibly in relation to cultural and natural heritage, promoting the location as a suitable place for socio-educational activities.
