Summary of project results

The project’s general objective was the contribution to regional development through the preservation of built cultural heritage and the promotion of knowledge and appreciation of the heritage among local community. The objective was achieved through the execution of the conservation and restoration works of the Manor House which will host socio-cultural activities. As cultural attraction, the Manor House is promoted not only by the National Tourism Promotion and Information Center from Gheorgheni (www.visitgheorgheni.ro) but by the local Tarisznyás Márton Museum and the Cultural Center as well. The historic monument restored during the project will attract more visitors and will be used for cultural and social events, multimedia presentations and research and education activities. This perception of the built heritage as an economic and social factor is the project’s core value going beyond simple conservation and restoration to encourage and facilitate rehabilitation, providing sustainable use of the heritage, innovative planning and new opportunities for the local population. In the same time, implementing this project made a difference to people's lives through improved cultural infrastructure conditions, better access to cultural services, enhanced implication into the cities’ life and in decision making process for all categories, contributing to strengthening pride in local communities for the inhabitants of the city.
