Almost €95 million (€16.8 million from the EEA Grants) is available for project proposals under the Spanish “Environmental and climate change-related research and technology” programme.

Increasing the use of green technologies and developing environmental innovation, research and development (R&D) is a priority for the EEA Grants in Spain. Spain has invested heavily in the development of renewable energies and energy efficiency. Support from the Grants will contribute to driving forward this thriving industry.

What areas are covered?

Funding is available for projects in the following areas:

• Environmental technologies

• Climate change and energy efficiency

• Renewable energies

Projects should be innovative and may include both industrial research and experimental development activities.

The call is jointly financed by the Spanish Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and the EEA Grants. Funding will be provided through a mix of grants and loans.

Who can apply for funding?

Only companies established in Spain can submit a project application.

Are there any partnership opportunities?

Bilateral project partnerships with organisations or enterprises in Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway are not mandatory. However, efforts to promote exchange and collaboration with entities in the donor countries will be positively assessed in the application.

The programme as a whole supports the sharing of expertise and exchange of best practice. Innovation Norway is the donor programme partner.

When is the deadline?

Deadline for applications is 4 October 2013 at 12.00 (Central European Time).
