Teacher training programme in Hungary

The city of Szolnok in central Hungary has set up an environmental education fund with support from the EEA and Norway Grants to spur eco-friendly inhabitants.
An open call is now ongoing for grants for training courses for teachers and employees dealing with environment counscoius education in the Jasz-Nagykun Szolnok County. Applications should be submitted to the self government of the city of Szolnok by 19 November 2009.
The fund is an initiative by the self-government to increase the environmental awareness within the county, particularly the knowledge of teachers who will pass information on to children and students. In addition to training courses for teachers, the €430,000 million fund supports infrastructure projects such as waste collection systems and promotion of bicycling.
