A €700,000 scholarship fund has been set up under the EEA and Norway Grants to strengthen the cooperation between Bulgaria and the 3 EEA EFTA states in higher education and research.
The first of 2 planned calls opened today. Grants are available for studies, training or research in one of the EEA EFTA states. Eligible applicants are citizens of an EU member state or an EEA EFTA state studying or working at a higher educational institution in Bulgaria.
Students can apply for a 3-12 month scholarship for the purposes of Bacherlor`s, Master`s, doctoral or post-doctoral studies in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. The financial support consists of a lump sum of €1400 for the first month and of €800 for each following month.
University staff and researchers may apply for grants for delivering lectures, exchanging experiences, carrying out research, or for participating in training courses, conferences or seminars in the EEA EFTA states. The financial support consists of a lump sum of €1700 for the first week and of €400 for each following week (maximum of 4 weeks). Participation fees may also be covered.
Applications may be submitted until 1 November 2009 to the applicant`s relevant home institution. Both the sending and receiving institutions, which may be public or private, need to be nationally accredited as higher educational or research institutions.
