Funding available for young Hungarian researchers

The Zoltan Magyary Postdoctoral Fellowship has now announced its second open call for proposals, making available some €390,000 for young researchers with international experience.

This is the second open call under the €1 million Zoltan Magyary Postdoctoral Fellowship, which was established in 2008. The fund aims to support and improve career prospects for talented young Hungarian researchers wishing to pursue a scientific career at a higher educational institution in Hungary. The fellowship is available to young researchers from all scientific fields. In particular, the fund wishes to encourage talented young researchers with international experience.

Successful applicants will benefit from a monthly scholarship of HUF 302,500 (approx. €1000), and an annual research support of HUF 948,750 (approx. €3300), to cover expenses related to the research activity. Applicants returning from research work abroad are entitled to support for up to 19 months. For those already in Hungary, the duration of the fellowship is 12 months.

Young scientists with experience from international educational institutions, who obtained their PhD or equivalent degree no more than eight years ago, can now submit their applications to the Magyary Higher Education Public Foundation until 4 July 2009.
