Strengthening civil society is an important priority for the EEA Grants and Norway Grants. At least 10% of the EEA Grants allocated to each country in the period 2009-14 are earmarked for support to civil society. Moreover, NGOs are eligible applicants in all of the beneficiary states under other EEA and Norway Grants programme areas.

Civil society representatives from the beneficiary states have this fall provided input on the NGO funding through an online consultation exercise. Thank you to those of you who have contributed so far.

The contributions to date and the evaluation of the 2004-09 NGO funds have provided valuable input to the Financial Mechanism Office in drafting guidelines for the NGO programmes under the EEA and Norway Grants 2009-14.

The draft NGO guideline is now available for comments and input at the web consultation page.

The document is a draft by the FMO and may change following comments from the donor states. The deadline for all comments and input is 5 November 2010.
