Supporting environmental friendly technologies in Spain

Spain has invested heavily in the development of renewable energies and energy efficiency. Support from the Grants contributes to drive this thriving industry forward. A call for proposals to finance business research and development projects is now open.

Increasing the use of green technologies and developing environmental innovation, research and development (R&D) is a priority for the EEA Grants in Spain.

Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway have made available more than € 18 million under the Environmental and climate change-related research and technology programme to fund research and development (R&D) projects in the following areas:
• Environmental technologies
• Climate change and energy efficiency
• Renewable energies
The budget of this programme is complemented with a contribution from the programme operator Centre for Technological Industrial Development - CDTI in the form of soft loans.

Funding industrial research and experimental development projects
The current call for proposals is the second under this programme and will finance business research and development (R&D) projects promoting generation of knowledge, technologies, products and services related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate change and environmental technologies.

The budget for the second call is €32.478.285. From this budget a maximum of €5.731.462 will be allocated for the non-refundable portion of the aid, funded through the EEA Grants.

Only Spanish enterprises can be project promoters, but collaboration with entities, public or private, from Iceland, Liechtenstein and/or Norway (the donor states) will be highly valued during the evaluation process.

The deadline for applications is 10 April 2014.
