The historical value of Europe’s cultural heritage is undisputed. Culture is also an important contributor to the economies in many European countries. Through the Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway contribute to safeguard and revitalise cultural heritage and make it accessible to the public.
In Slovakia the cultural heritage programme contributes to halt the further deterioration of cultural heritage and to help revitalise part of this heritage for the use of current and future generations.
Two calls are now open under the programme, both with deadline 15 April 2014:
€2,948,942 for projects making cultural heritage accessible to the public
€2,948,943 for the restoration of national cultural monuments
At least 5% of the amount dedicated for the open calls under this programme will go to projects taking account of or related to the Jewish cultural heritage of Slovakia.
Funding for partnerships
Project partnerships with entities in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are encouraged. To facilitate that there is also funding available for participating in a matchmaking seminar in Bratislava organised with the aim to create project partnerships and support mutual networking between potential applicants and partners from the three donor states. Entities both from Slovakia and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are eligible for this funding.
Planning to apply for cultural heritage funding in Hungary?
Also in Hungary, the rich cultural and natural heritage is at risk mainly due to limited funds for its upkeep and preservation. Calls for project proposals under the cultural heritage programme in Hungary to preserve urban built cultural heritage and rural cultural and natural heritage can be submitted from 21 February.

Already now, organisations operating in Hungary in the field of cultural and natural heritage protection and similar organisations from the donor countries – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway may apply for funding for activities aiming to initiate or strengthen existing contact between potential project partners during the project development stage.
Support is given for participating in meetings/workshops/seminars, study tours and professional development of bilateral project proposals.
