Receiving €533.5 million in support, Poland is the largest beneficiary state of the EEA and Norway Grants. Each of the EEA and Norway Grants` priority sectors are represented in the projects carried out in Poland. The major ones are however conservation of the European cultural heritage, protection of the environment and implementation of the Schengen acquis.
Poland is also the beneficiary of 12 funds. Notable among these are cultural, research and scholarship funds fostering bilateral cooperation projects between Norway and Poland, as well as NGO funds fostering protection of the environment, equal opportunities and strengthening Polish civil society.
Bilateral cooperation with the donor states are a key element of the EEA and Norway Grants. In Poland, more than 20 % of the projects supported are carried out in partnership with authorities, institutions or businesses in Norway.
Media interest
There is a considerable interest for the EEA and Norway Grants in Poland, both among the public and the media. Program 3 of the Polish Radio will over the following weeks be presenting 8 different projects carried out within different priority sectors. The schedule is as follows:
