Looking for a traineeship in project and grants management?

At the FMO we recruit young EEA nationals for five-month traineeships to assist on tasks related to the daily running of the EEA and Norway Grants. We are currently accepting applications for traineeships commencing 2009.

The FMO is the day-to-day secretariat for the EEA and Grants, keeping in close contact with both the three EEA EFTA states and the 15 beneficiary states. Each half year 2-4 trainees are recruited to assist on tasks ranging from communication activities, project appraisal to financial management. The next round of traineeships starts on 1 March 2009.

The FMO is comprised of some 40 staff, representing 16 nationalities from across Europe, working together in sociable, fast-paced environment. Individuals from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway as well as from all EU member states are eligible applicants. Each trainee will be assigned a mentor, to ease their introduction to the work at the FMO.

Trainees will gain insight into how the FMO assesses and monitors projects, and will also be given work related to information activities, reporting and evaluation. We place emphasis on including the trainees in all staff activities, and provide possibilities for learning and improving expertise in project management.

"With my background in development studies, the traineeship at the FMO gave me a valuable opportunity to gain further knowledge both on European integration and cohesion funding", commented Maria Thorsnes, now an Information and project officer at the FMO.
