Interest for the Green industry programme exceeds expectations in Romania

Under the EEA and Norway Grants 2009-2014 in Romania, €24 million has been allocated to promote more sustainable production processes, product design and services. Innovation Norway has received 85 project applications amounting to €47 million, far exceeding the €24 million allocated to the programme.

The EEA and Norway Grants support Romania’s endeavours to shift towards a greener economy. Through the Green industry programme for Romania, financial support is provided to develop and implement green industries. Small and medium-sized Romanian enterprises are the main target groups, but also NGOs may apply under the small grant scheme.

Having received 85 calls for proposals, Innovation Norway has a wide array of projects to choose from. Their selection is expected to be made in December 2013. 

Key priorities of the programme

The Green industry innovation programme is aimed at:

  • business opportunities of the greening of the European economy;
  • reducing waste and pollution;
  • environmentally friendly technologies, and;
  • increasing job creation and entrepreneurship
