How Portugal just kicked off 48 projects through the Active Citizens Fund

Over the next three years, no less than 48 projects are set to receive up to €3,5M through the Portuguese Active Citizens Fund. The funding will go to projects focusing on civic participation and human rights awareness, as well as projects dealing with the empowerment of vulnerable groups, such as youth at risk, young people with disabilities, children living with cancer, victims of domestic violence, migrants and refugees.

The Active Citizens Fund 2014-2021 focuses on developing long-term sustainability and capacity of the civil society sector, with the aim of strengthening its role in promoting democratic participation, active citizenship and human rights. Almost two hundred applications were submitted in October 2018 to the Portuguese Active Citizens Fund, demonstrating just how important support to civil society is.
