The Portuguese cultural heritage programme, “ Cultural Footprint: Arts and Education”, promotes access to the arts, encouraging organisations in the artistic field to cooperate with schools and partners to bring Portuguese school children in contact with various cultural experiences, such as theater and fine arts.  The programme is based on the Norwegian initiative “The Cultural Rucksack” but has been adapted to Portuguese needs.

Forty-five organisations interested in being part of the programme participated at the launch, which included a matchmaking seminar for potential project promoters. The Portuguese Secretary of State for Culture, Jorge Barreto Xavier, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Portugal, Ove Thorsheim, were present as well.

In total, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway have set aside €28 million to promoting diversity in culture and arts within European cultural heritage, and programmes within this programme area are implemented in 10 out of the 15 beneficiary countries of the Grants.
