Four agreements signed with Slovakia

Agreements were signed with Slovakia this week for programmes worth €35 million on climate change, green industry innovations, social inclusion and domestic and gender based violence. This will benefit Slovak entities interested in cooperation in these fields with Norwegian partners.

The signing took place in connection with a launch conference on 6 November 2012 in the Slovak capital attracting over 200 persons. 

Signature of four programme agreements

At the conference Mr Igor Federiè, Head of the Government Office of the Slovak republic and Mr Anders Erdal, the chairman of the Financial Mechanism Committee, on behalf of the donor states, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, signed four programme agreements. The programmes focus on:

  • Climate change – involving more than 100 communities in Slovakia in developing measures against and knowledge about climate change
  • Green industry innovations  - increasing renewable energy production and creating new jobs
  • Social inclusion – developing learning material addressing minorities and social inclusion towards both students and teachers.
  • Prevention of domestic and gender based violence – focusing on creating shelters, increasing counselling capacity and addressing the issue through media campaigns and research

Conference on gender violence on November 26

The Government office of Slovak Republic will organise conferences on each programme field.

First up is a conference on domestic and gender based violence entitled “We hear you calling for help” on November 26 in Bratislava.

The website on EEA and Norway Grants of the Government Office of the Slovak republic will be updated with the latest event information.

The total EEA and Norway Grants contribution to the Slovak Republic is more than €80 million for the current period 2009 – 2014 and is divided into nine programmes.
