Environment and climate change is the largest area of support under the current financing period (2009-2014) and has a lot of potential for new project cooperation in various fields, for instance nature management and ecosystem services, climate change mitigation and adaptation, integrated marine and water management or hazardous substances.
"I encourage Norwegian environment organisations to grasp the opportunities opening up", said Norwegian State Secretary for Environment, Henriette Killi Westhrin, during her opening address.
At the conference, Norwegian authorities, research institutions, businesses and non-governmental organisations met with government representatives from 11 EU countries to explore opportunities for cooperation.
The launch conference for environmental projects on 7 November 2012 was organised by Norway’s Climate and Pollution Agency (Klif), Directorate for Nature Management (DN) and Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) in cooperation with the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment.
