EEA and Norway Grants featured at POLEKO 2009

Several EEA and Norway Grants funded environmental projects were presented at the POLEKO 2009 International Trade Fair in Environmental Protection in Poznan, Poland, on 24-27 November.

The fair had more than 800 exhibitors showcasing the latest solutions in environmental and municipal services, and included specialist debates conferences, business meetings and workshops.

The City of Warsaw presented the "Warsaw – the Capital of Cleanliness" project which educates the public about recycling and waste management. The Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation presented their clean business certificates project, which stimulates businesses to use clean and environment friendly technology, whereas the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection (GIOŚ) presented their capacity-building project carried out in cooperation the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority.

Norwegian seminar on clean water and water management
The cooperation between GIOŚ was also presented at a seminar organised by the Norwegian Embassy and Innovation Norway. The seminar focused on Norwegian framework and technical experience on clean water and water management, as well as EEA and Norway Grants support to this sector. In the second part of the seminar a number of Norwegian companies presented their technological solutions to waste water and sewage sludge treatment. The seminar attracted 40-50 participants from the business sector as well as representatives of public authorities.
