Czech Republic seeks intermediary for 2.5 mln research fund

The Czech Republic announced on Tuesday 25 October 2005 a call for proposals for a block grant intermediary to manage a € 2.5 million research fund to be set up under the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, established by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Through the EEA Financial Mechanism, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will make a total 600 million euros available over a five-year period until 2009 to the ten countries that joined the EU in May 2004, and to Spain, Portugal and Greece. Under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, Norway will make an additional 567 million euros available over the same five-year period to the ten new EU members. In total, the Czech Republic is eligible for around 111 million euros from the two financial mechanisms.
