Trafficking in human beings is a global problem. Annually, thousands of people fall victims to trafficking whether in their own countries or abroad. This criminal activity causes its victims great suffering, violates fundamental human rights, and constitutes a challenge to the entire international community. The aim of the conference is to share experiences and clarify the content of the obligation to protect victims. The reports of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), which monitors the implementation of the Convention, will provide a framework for the discussions on four related themes:
- Identification of victims of trafficking with a specific focus on labour exploitation
- Legal redress and compensation
- Standards of safe accommodation for victims of trafficking
- Ensuring victims’ rehabilitation and safe return
