On 4 December 2018, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania (the National Focal Point) and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vilnius are organising the opening event of the 2014-2021 European Economic Area (EEA) and Norway Grants in Lithuania. This will consist of a conference dedicated to present to the public the programmes planned to be implemented in the next financial mechanism.
A new Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 24 April 2018, allocating a total of €117.6 million to the country. The opening event will also highlight the contribution of the EEA and Norway Grants to the social and economic development of Lithuania and to stronger bilateral relations between the donor states and Lithuania. For the period 2009-2014, Lithuania was allocated €84 million; up from €67.3 million over the previous five-year period. Hundreds of people have benefited from the 223 projects that have received funding from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants.
The conference will take place at the hotel Merchants Club, Gedimino Ave. 35, Vilnius.
A preliminary agenda is enclosed hereto.
