The project is oriented in the field of higher education pedagogy with the intent to promote the issue of active smart aging among the various age groups attending the universities. Main focus is on the promotion of the concept of welfare technologies among the elderly people. The concept is divided into the following areas of knowledge and skills improvement: smart home; safety communication; technology for independent living.
Activities of the project are targeted at several groups of participants:
- promotion of the concept and preparation of 1st year students in bachelor studies for active aging;
- promotion of the concept among students of study programs for helping professions;
- promotion of the concept among seniors - participants of the interest education provided by the University of third age (U3A).
Activities of the project will lead to development and implementation of innovative curricula and methodology for the target groups, scientific studies and other publications.
Summary of project results
The project implementation was very useful for the all partners, but administratively and financially very demanding. I recommend to the Research Agency improve their interim reports forms; to communicate in both languages (Slovak+English)- when Agency needed corrections of the documents from the Norwegian partner, each time was contacted the Slovak project promoter in Slovak language and it was very difficult to translate professional financial terminology into English. The language of project information is required to be in both languages, but the agency did not use the both languages. Due to the required complicated procedures of Public procurement, not all finance was spent by the Slovak partners- the processes of orders and purchases are very demanding.
It helped to establish new scientific and educational cooperation, we learned many new practices used in Scandinavian countries that are very inspiring for the Slovak Higher Education environment. We experienced on the both sides the educational systems and the way how scientific support in the field of tertiary education works. The stakeholders of the project results (participants of the courses) were very satisfied with the educational and professional activities implemented during the project, they also expressed the desire to be a part of the similar future activities. Many published outputs were created during the project, that are very beneficial for all 3 Higher education institutions and for the academicians (5 books, 12 studies, 1 final report). It was the first time the Slovak project members experienced the scandinavian culture, knowledge, working style and the new terminology "welfare technology".
The project led to the main results as: creation of 6 books, New developed curricula of the Course for seniors and its´implementation; implementation of the issue of active ageing into the existing courses at the both Slovak universities, publishing of 16 scientific studies, development of the Methodology for helping professionals published in the form of the textbook and other dissemination activities.
