Description
The project builds on the ongoing process of digitalization of teaching. Every teacher in our school can ensure the teaching of their subject through some digital platform, but in case of vocational practical teaching there is room for improvement. The Project Promoter is constantly looking for new, clearer ways to bring students closer to practical skills, even when they cannot provide in-person education. The Project Promoter SSOŠ DSA in Trnava, welcomes the Norwegian partner Arctic Circle Upper Secondary School''s offer to present their strategy and methods of practical teaching in vocational subjects using digital tools. The aim of the project is to transfer the strategy and methods of digital learning from the Norwegian partner and at the same time create a strong partnership for further cooperation. The project will involve 15 teachers and masters of practical training from SSOŠ DSA in Trnava. The result will be a system of digital tools and trained staff with new digital skills. A tutorial will also be created, making it easier to transfer the practice to other schools.
Summary of project results
In the past, we have made some experience with implementation of the projects in Erasmus+ programme and Interreg SK-AT programme. Objectively, Norwegian grants, were administratively most complicated and most demanding. In many aspects, the system of reporting and legal as practical administrative requirements are unnecessarily complicated from our point of view. This makes it very confusing for us as recepients.
To summarise and illustrate the biggest problem. The Norwegian Grants have meny requirements on what conditions must documents related to programme fullfil, as for example Partnership agreement, Audit report of Norwegian partner, etc. However, there are no usable forms, or musters. Then, we make our own draft. This obviously does not fullfil the criteria and we kill time with correcting the documents. It would be much easier, to have draft forms provided by the Grant operator, which we could use, and where every required detail would be specified.
The project built on the ongoing process of digitalizing of teaching. By developing the capacity for digital teaching of all teachers in Trnava, the project capitalized on the transfer of know-how from and cooperation with the Norwegian partner.
The aim had been to develop personal capacities alongside an investment in the digital infrastructure. During the reporting period, progress was made on both fronts. The training of teachers in these areas was finalized, and the public procurement process for purchasing 20 new notebooks for digital education at the school in Trnava, as well as Notebooks and Tablets in Mo I Rana, was successfully completed.
The outcome is a system of digital tools and trained staff equipped with new digital skills. In addition, we developed a tutorial to facilitate the transfer of this practice to other schools. This guide was completed in March 2024.
Project contributed to establishing partnership networks between the Slovak and Norwegian organisations, teachers and student. Helped to transfer best-practice examples in VET between both countries. Project served as a basis for a establishing of partnership relationship between 2 participating organisations in both countries, which will in future serve as basis for further cooperations and exchange of teachers and students either within the EEA Norwegian grants, Erasmus+ or other funding programms. This continuous cooperation of both schools will help sustain the outcomes of the project, and build on theese even further. The project showed that both schools can bring important know-how of the first partner to the partnership. Exchange of students from both schools are possible in the future.
Great lesson learned for us was the project in terms of our professional praxis as teachers of Vocational school. Project enabled us to travel to Norway, to see the praxis, examples and practices of how to do education differently and better.
On the other hand, it helped us to build our own internal capacities for international cooperations, on which we can in future build other projects and cooperations in international environment.
