The project''s main goal is to ensure the continuation and development of the operation of a Safe Women''s Shelter and Counseling centre, managed by the non-profit organization LUNA, in the regional city of Trenčín. Thanks to partners, the project achieves not only the complexity of services provided to clients, but also the opportunity to provide services to clients from other regions, and adequate counselling in connection with state social benefits and employment. The project partner Mobile operator 4ka provides an easy-to-remember telephone number of the free crisis line for the purposes of a 24-hour crisis line for women - victims of domestic and gender-based violence. The project contributes to the achievement of gender equality in society, to the equality of women and their children who have become victims of domestic and gender-based violence. Project also contributes to the social inclusion and empowerment of Roma, and other vulnerable groups within a Safe Women''s Shelter and Counseling Center.
Summary of project results
The aim of the project was to ensure the routine operation and development of services at the Safe Women''s House and Counseling Center through the qualified personnel of the LUNA non-profit organization. In addition to securing daily operations, a significant portion of the budget focused on creating a therapeutic garden as a safe space for women and their children who are clients of the Safe Women''s House and on acquiring a new vehicle essential for ensuring daily operations.
During the implementation of the project, the following activities were carried out:
The routine operation of the women''s safe house and counselling centre was ensured for two years.
Construction of a therapeutic garden – The therapeutic garden serves as a safe outdoor space in the form of a garden with a garden house, facilitating various forms of mother-child relationship therapy.
Procurement of small furniture and equipment for rooms, offices, and kitchens – Equipment was acquired for the rooms and other spaces of the Safe Women''s House to support its operations.
Repairs to the Safe Women''s House building – Repairs to the facade and railings of the building were completed.
Educational activities for professional staff – Four 3-day training blocks were held, totaling 120 hours. These were focused on stress management, types of stress, trauma basics, post-traumatic stress disorder, crisis intervention, stabilization techniques, and safety measures, both theoretically and practically.
Mandatory project promotion – LUNA non-profit organization organized the 4th and 5th annual nationwide professional conference "Protecting Women and Children from Violence" in 2022 and 2023. The overall project results were summarized for the public at the final conference.
Promotion and dissemination of information, publicity – Three campaigns were conducted, each including lectures for high school students and the general public. Marketing and promotion of the campaigns were supported by billboards, content creation for leaflets and brochures, radio spots on Radio Wow, press releases in MyTrenčín, podcasts, promotional items, and social media posts.
Thanks to the implementation of the project, the beneficiary was able to provide accommodation and services to 155 women with experience of violence, including their children, over a period of 2 years.
